Well, here we are.
The good news is that Proposition 60 in California failed.
The bad news is... almost everything else.
I'm still a bit baffled by the number of people in the industry (not a lot, but some) who were and are pro-Trump. Perhaps it is the tacky, gaudy Las Vegas style, the whiff of the carnival barker, that makes some porn people feel like Trump is One of Us.
He is not One of Us. People who go to strip clubs are often the first ones who want the strip club shut down when they think there's political advantage in it.
We've been living, us in porn, a charmed existence in many ways for the last eight years. The Obama Administration didn't spend time on obscenity prosecutions. But that was a decision on their part, not a change in the law, and a new sheriff is in town.
Whoever is the new Attorney General will almost certainly kick new life into obscenity cases, bringing pressure on financial institutions to not handle the money for porn companies, and find new and interesting ways of regulating the Internet. It's going to be rough, especially for smaller companies.
And to my compatriots in porn who support Trump: Collaboration will not protect you.
